Instructor Don Hale, CAS. Production Sound Mixer.

Don is a San Diego native who also bases out of Anchorage, Alaska. Don has traveled on all seven continents, sound mixing and recording a wide variety of productions. His roots were based in broadcast news which then led him to work for CBS News shows ”48 Hours” and “60 Minutes.” Other projects include feature documentaries “Step Into Liquid” and “Dust to Glory” . His passion for the outdoors and adventure gave him the opportunity to mix many extreme sports and adventure productions such “Eco-Challenge”, “America’s Cup”, and the feature film I-MAX film “Ultimate-X”. He has recently worked on “Coming Home” for Lifetime, supervised sound for reality pilots and National Geographic Education series for life science awareness. Hale has received 2 National Emmy’s.

Instructor Jeffry Silverman

An award-winning filmmaker and writer from Anchorage, Jeff co-founded Blueberry Productions in 1994.
Among a number of award-winning documentary productions, he produced and directed several films that are permanently exhibited in Anchorage. Since opening day in 1999, “Stories Given, Stories Shared,” a 17-minute documentary, has introduced thousands of visitors and school children to Alaska Native cultures. The film has been used for years by the Heritage Center and government agencies in cultural orientation courses. Anchorage’s “PlanetWalk” scale model of the solar system features Jeff’s half hour exploration of Native storytelling, “Native Stories of the Heavens,” in a large interpretive panel at the sun station, downtown at 5th and G.

Since 1999 Jeff has produced the live TV broadcast coverage of the Alaska Federation of Natives annual Convention, adding an interactive webcast seven years ago. He directed seven years of North Country News, a half-hour weekly TV magazine that focused on rural and Native issues, airing on statewide public television.

Jeff produced, co-wrote, and directed the award-winning feature documentary “For the Rights of All: Ending Jim Crow in Alaska,” broadcast nationally on PBS in 2009 and 2010.

He has field produced for several national reality shows and is currently developing a doc series for a major network as well as an original fiction series.

Instructor Ron Holmstrom,

Before becoming a fixture in the Alaska entertainment community, Ron worked in Hollywood for many years on stage, in film and in television. Some of his films include the critically acclaimed ‘Pow Wow Highway,’ ‘Christmas with a Capital C’ and the award-winning short, ‘Change.’ He will soon be seen in a plum role, playing Robert Hansen’s attorney Mike Rule in the up-coming, ‘The Frozen Ground,’ starring Nicolas Cage and John Cusack. Of his numerous stage appearances, Ron portrayed Robert E. Lee in ACT’s West Coast Premiere of ‘The Killer Angels,’ Pato Dooley in CTC’s production of ‘The Beauty Queen of Leenane’ and Kit Carson in ‘The Time of Your Life.’

Ron was Artistic Director of Anchorage Community Theatre for three years, taught ‘Acting for the Camera’ for Alaska Theatre of Youth’s program at University of Alaska and has taught workshops and coached actors for many years. He has been responsible for the casting of hundreds of roles in theatre, film and television.

Ron is currently the entertainment reporter for both FOX and ABC television affiliates in Alaska and is the 1st ever Alaska representative of the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. He was recognized by the Anchorage Press as most popular male Alaska television personality.
